St. John’s Village was established by the Anglican Diocese of Wangaratta to offer aged care to older people across the region.
The initial St. John’s Village board was established by an Act of Synod in October 1966, under the directorship of the Reverend Jim Trainor. The original 20 acre site, including a unique wetlands environment, in Wangaratta’s west was purchased in 1967 and the board set about raising community support for the project with various fundraising activities.
