Bishop John Parkes
I have been at St. John’s for the past six years providing executive support to the CEO and Board. More recently my role changed and includes both managing the Terrace units and the Self-Care units. I aim to provide a liaison between current and new residents and management in both of these independent living sections of St. John’s Village. I also assist prospective new residents and their families/carers as they transition into the Aged Care Facility. I am honoured to be able to assist people during what can be at times, stressful and emotional and value the friendships that develop as a result of both of these roles with residents and their families.
I am excited to be leading the development of the St. John’s Academy registered training organisation, where we are able to further develop St. John’s Village services, both locally and Nationally through training, educating and upskilling a dynamic workforce for the future of the aged care community sectors.
I have been employed at St. Johns Village for eight years during which time my role has evolved from Team Leader to Environmental Services Manager. Working at St. John’s has provided many challenges and great rewards working with the Residents, their families and my colleagues.
I am Registered Nurse and have tertiary qualifications in management and leadership. I have been employed extensively in the aged care industry for past 17 years in both NSW and Queensland. My intention was to semi-retire in God’s own country, NE Victoria and enjoy all it has to offer. Clearly those plans have changed. I remain very passionate about delivering high quality care and to providing excellence in service delivery for our consumers and stakeholders alike. I consider it an honour and privilege to be a member of the progressive team here at St. John’s Village.
