Further update, for residents, families and friends at St John’s Retirement Village, regarding the recent influenza outbreak.
As you are aware, we have experienced an unprecedented number of influenza cases this year and sadly as a result seven of our more vulnerable residents have died. This has been a distressing time for all our residents, families and staff.
The Department of Health has today issued a media statement about Victoria’s influenza outbreak. The statement mentions St John’s and, as such, you may see reports in the media.
I assure you that while we still do have a few cases of flu, we are confident the situation is in our control. I can confirm we have had no new cases since last Wednesday and now only have twelve residents infected.
The health and welfare of all our residents is a priority and we continue to work closely with the Department of Health to manage the situation and ensure the best possible care for all our residents.
If you have any questions about or would like to discuss the situation, please do not hesitate to contact me.
