Residents, families and friends will gather at St. John’s Village in Wangaratta today (Monday 9 October) for an information session following last month’s devastating influenza outbreak.
St. John’s Board Chairman Bishop John Parkes said the ongoing welfare and care of residents, families and staff is a priority going forward.
“The last few weeks have been incredibly difficult for everyone impacted by the influenza outbreak and we are deeply committed to providing regular updates and information to our community.”
Bishop Parkes said the meeting will provide an update on recent staff changes and introduce residents and families to a working group managing a quality improvement project at St. John’s.
“Being well informed and supported in the aftermath of a crisis of any nature is incredibly important for the people involved,” Bishop Parkes said. “The meeting today will provide an opportunity for everyone to get together, hear about our working group and ask any questions.”
Bishop Parkes will also announce details of a memorial service to be held later this month in memory of the St. John’s residents who died in the influenza epidemic.
