Vaccination at St. John’s – There has been an excellent uptake of the flu wax program and we have reached the 72 per cent mark for all nursing staff. While this is a great effort we are still aiming for 85 per cent.
Watch this space for notice of the next immunisation clinic which will be scheduled before the end of July.
Volunteers, allied health workers, contractors, maintenance staff, all Vision Foods staff and agency staff took up the opportunity for vaccination through the St. John’s Village all inclusive program. Additionally an amazing 60 people from the Independent Living Units have taken part in the program to date.
Leading the way in the professional approach to risk management and vaccination at St. John’s Village, Paul Mac Donald, Facility Manager, has recently taken part in a research study being conducted by C Raina MacIntyre, Professor of Global Biosecurity, NHMRC Principal Research Fellow, Head, Biosecurity Program, UNSW and Holly Seale, Senior Lecturer, UNSW (University of NSW). Read their article ‘Why flu vaccinations should be mandatory for Aussie health workers in high-risk areas‘
Through Paul’s participation in the research project a copy of the research outcomes will be made available to St. John’s.
